11'10 @ManOnHisPath nice thought but illusionary... TWEET
it may help as an orientation though, even if extroversion is not bony
@cosmopinciotti Could you please explain a little further? I'm a bit confused.
11'13 @ManOnHisPath you speak of two souls sharing one body – a quite schizophrenic idea.
but to broaden the own mental horizon it could be useful
@cosmopinciotti I don't think it's necessarily schizophrenic. Carl Jung (the man who coined "introvert" and "extravert") thought that the ideal individual would be an ambivert.
12'07 @ManOnHisPath I understand the idealistic concept of this combination but in reality you're at a certain point on this personality spectrum.
12'07 @cosmopinciotti inherently, yes, but you can change the literal structure of your brain as evidenced by neuroplasticity. I used to be an introvert, but by actively and consistently taking action to be more social (e.g., talking to one new person every day, hanging out with extroverts, etc.) I soon converted to extroversion.
haha I can't stand being alone with my thoughts now.
@ManOnHisPath in other words, you've moved from one point to another, congratulations.
I believe you that because it is absolutely possible.
12'07 @cosmopinciotti yep, and you're probably right. you can't be a perfect ambivert, but I think you can come close. I'd say the process for this would be to work on your weak side until it's predominant (move "from one point to another"), and then reintegrate what used to be your strong side with your current strong side while still maintaining your current strong side.
@ManOnHisPath excellent point, Man On His Path...

"Culture replaces authentic feeling with words.
as an example of this, imagine an infant lying in its cradle, and the window is open...
and into the room comes something – marvellous, mysterious, glittering, shedding light of many colors, a movement, sound, a transformative hierophany of integrated perception
and the child is enthralled.
and then the mother comes into the room and she says to the child
'That's a bird, baby, that's a bird.'
instantly the complex wave of the angel-peacock, iridescent, transformative mystery is collapsed – into the word.
all mystery is gone. the child learns this is a bird, this is a bird.
And by the time we're five or six years old all the mystery of reality has been carefully tiled over with words.
This is a bird, this is a house, this is the sky, and we seal ourselves in within a linguistic shell of disempowered perception."
